The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is a huge event on
the South East Queenslands running calendar each
July situated along the city's beautiful Broadwater foreshore precinct.
The flat terrain and mild winter temperatures make it
a runner's favourite.
The 2008 event attracted a record entry of 21,001 -
up by 30 per cent on 2007 - with locals from all over Australia joining runners from as far as Japan,
America, Argentina, Kenya and 24 other lands.
The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is officially accredited by Athletics Australia and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and is a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). It annually assembles a quality field of elite runners pursuing a slice of the large prizemoney pool and the various championships on offer.

The Gold Coast Airport Marathon is to be next held on Sunday 3 July 2011, featuring a marathon, half marathon, 10 kilometre run, community walk and junior dash. Now in its 32nd year, runners and walkers of all ages will come from all over the world to experience the magnificent running conditions and beautiful course that runs alongside the Pacific Ocean surf beaches and Broadwater.
